Scott Beaumont Reports from the 4X World Cup Round 2

UK Rocky Mountain rider Scott Beaumont reports from Maribor, Slovenia and round 2 of the UCI World Cup 4X series.

Bad weekend in Slovenia!

Scott Beaumont 52nd

Last weekend was the 2nd round of the 4X World Cup Series in Maribor, Slovenia. After 6th at the 1st round I was looking for a good result to try and get into the top 5. Unfortunately the opposite happened. The worst weekend!

The weather was really bad and the track was a washout. The crew in Maribor did a fantastic job to even get the race to happen, but it was a tough track for all.

In my 1st race I was sat in a comfortable 2nd position after a mistake in turn 2. But happy and riding ok. Then the guy behind me hit me on one of the flat turns and unfortunately I crashed out. As soon as I jumped up, my left ankle felt wrong. I sat on the bike and rolled down.

It swelled up to the size of a balloon and was obvious that something was wrong.

Anyway, several visits to the hospital and doctors this week have revealed that nothing is broken. There is a little bit of ligament damage and alot of swelling, but it is going to be ok. Unfortunately I have to miss the 3rd round of the Euro 4X Series this weekend in Germany but I should be back racing for the National 4X Series next weekend in Harthill on Saturday and the Euro 4X Round on Sunday. Ill obviously keep you all updated.

Attached a couple of nice foot pictures for you and a shot from qualifying.

This result has now shuffled me down the order to joint 10th position in the World Cup overall.

Scott talks you though the Maribor 4X track
