Security Guards in shopping centres watch out, as this Race Face hoody is an absolute ASBO dream. In fact, it's so fashionable that we were reluctant to go out and get it filthy, but that would be a waste of decent wild weather performance. The three layer 'windchill' fabric is very similar to that of the Endura Fusion, shrugging off wind and rain well and staying comfortable when sodden. The simple, single thickness design reduces bulk and weight to reasonable levels as well. There's a storm flap to stop zip drafts though, and the tall collar gives plenty of protection - even without the hood up. A drawcorded hem stops breezes up your back, but the elasticated sleeves are almost too tight to pull up without cutting off the circulation and getting arm pump. Otherwise it's a relatively baggy straight cut jacket that doesn't stress the slightly stretchy fabric at all. Neat Race Face reflective logos add safety without cramping style and you get handwarmer pockets for that essential street slouch - though they're not much cop on the bike. Also available without the hood as the Quantum jacket for the same price, or in a baby blue women's version, netting Race Face the only equal rights windproof award.
WMB VERDICT: All weather ASBO-tastic performance at a reasonable price.
