Intense Tire Systems have furnished the System 4 with lots of smallish but fairly deep, generally square, closely-spaced knobs. This makes for a fast-rolling tyre that's great on hardpack and rocks, good on middling soft and loose trails, but struggles in sticky mud.

These new tyres from Intense are designated (by them we hasten to add) as 'For Racing Only'. Their high performance mega sticky compound gives you loads of grip in all conditions, at the cost of them wearing out marginally faster than normal tyres.
