Race Face is now offering an all-mountain stem in Atlas (expensive) and Evolve (entry level) categories. The Evolve AM is forged from 2014 aluminium and then blasted. We assume this means it's bead blasted (or shot-peened), which increases tensile strength and fatigue resistance. It gets an interlocking faceplate borrowed off of the Diabolus stem and it does interlock into the stem. The bar also fits further into the front of the stem, offering a better overall fit. We've mixed opinions on the styling but the Evolve AM is well priced and comes in smaller and a better range of sizes than the equivalently-priced Easton.

Race Face have done well with this one: the length options give you plenty of choice, which is vital whem setting up your perfect controls. We tested the 70mm stem, which has a great 'all mountain' feel. With a six-degree rise, the stem gives you good control when tackling technical singletrack or tricky descents, and it provides you with a good body position for climbs without feeling cramped. It also has an interlocking U-shaped face plate to help eliminate stress concentrations, which is a bonus for carbon bar users. The whole of the stem is forged from 6061 aluminium, so it's strong and it has a reasonable weight of 170g.
