Race Face sent us a 0º rise, 50mm long version of their new D2 stem which we quickly mounted above a Rock Shox Boxxer which we had previously been running with a direct mount stem. We were amazed to find that the D2 stem allowed us to lower the handle bar height by a 1/2". As suspension forks have moved to 8" of travel, thus increasing in height, riders have been trying to find ways to lower their handlebars to improve cornering and maintain a balanced stance on the bike. The new D2 stem is a very welcome product for anyone looking to further lower their handlebars. While riding the D2 we were very impressed by the solid feel and the sweet new styling that it offered. The D2 seems to do exactly what Race Face designed it to do.

The original Diabolus stem is something of a strength legend and the new D2 looks set to inherit the legacy. An interlocking back-sloped top plate extends down into the lower U for a totally closed low-stress bar connection and solid steering. The low stack height (35mm) back end gets big squared ridges and twin opposing bolts for total lock down, but it's much lighter than the original. It comes in various lengths, including OnePointFive versions.
