Paul Burwell MBR February 2005 - 'SDG says its Bel-Air is one of the most widely recognised saddles of all time, and one of the reasons for its popularity, apart from the animal skin cover, is its shape. The Bel-Air tapers from front to back with a gentle curve either side where it meets the thigh. It doesn't feel as comfortable as the Grand Prix when rotating forward on the nose, but was spot on for squarely seated riding. It's not a long saddle, yet it feels like it. As well as cow print there's leopard, tiger and a camo finish, as well as two-tone for the same money. We think the bovine finish looks great but some of the print sadles we've tested in the past start to look tatty after riding through a winter. Titanium rails are light and slightly springy. Kevlar side panels resist scuffs better than plain leather.

If you've got a bike with a short top tube and want to get furtehr back over the pedals, this is the saddle we'd fit. It's also solid, comfortable and strong.'

Verdict 10/10, RECOMMENDED

What Mountain Bike - November 2003 - 'The choice of upholstery pimps everywhere, the huge array of fur and fabric finishes available shouldn't detract from the excellent performance of this saddle. The design avoids numbness grooves or novelty cut outs, but it uses a carefully shaped flexible shell to leave a firmly supportive seat for `experienced' arses, titanium rails also help absorb shock'.

WMB VERDICT - Superbly shaped, firm saddle for seasoned riders with individual tastes

Singletrack Magazine - Summer 2003 - The Bel Air is hand made in the USA and comes in possibly the widest selection of colour combinations of any saddle out there. No fancy numbness saving cutaways here though, just a bit more padding in the nose with 6/4 Ti rails and Kevlar sides providing scuff protection. From the start I found the saddle really comfortable. The slightly higher back of the saddle provides all the pressure relief you need, while the padding at the front helps on those long seated climbs when you need to get your weight forward. Coming in 17 colour/pattern choices, there's bound to be one to match your bike. The Bel Air is one of those products born when the planets Pimpy and Performance were well and truly in alignment. You won't be disappointed if you get one'.

MBUK August 2003 - '...the Bel Air has a supportive shell, providing all day comfort without the need for fancy cut outs. Firm gel padding stops ache across the deck and this deepens towards the nose to prevent pressure spots, while the side seams are tucked out of the way under the edges. The rounded nose and shoulders help entry/exit in steep situations. VERDICT: All-round performer; pimp appeal'

Dirt Nov/Dec 2002, - '...I personally love the shape of these. I use one on my BMX race bike and it has lasted for ages. One of the good things about the SDG range is that it is available in a massive range of color combinations.'

What Mountain Bike Nov/Dec 2002 WINNER What Mountain Bike CHOICE Award - 'The Bel Air has become a firm favourite over the years.. This pimptastic pew has all the performance of a great design...The shape can't be faulted. The nose features extra padding for climbing comfort and the raised back provides a lot of support. The cut of the sides allow unhindered transitions off the back and replaceable nose and rear bumper prolong the Bel Air's life span. VERDICT: Great shape and comfort gets a fun covering...we were particularly happy to be perched atop the stunning SDG Bel Air Ti.'

MBUK October 2002 - 'This saddle is about pure indulgence. And don't forget, there's still a classic mount under that exterior. 6/4 Ti rails keep the weight down and strength up with tail and nose guards increasing durability.'

Shred August 2002 - 'We've been amazed that these saddles are so comfy....fat, thin, short or tall all our boys got on well with the SDG and our sheriff's badges remained intact thanks to SDG's top secret chocolate starfish protection system. Even the fur cleans up good with a shot of jet washing, so we'd have to say they are a good product, no butts.'

MBR May 2002 - 5/5 - '...the finish is excellent...one of the most comfortable. It would be an ideal perch for 24-hour marathons.'
