Yeti Cycles have expanded their highly successful Switch Infinity suspension line-up with the addition of a new 5.5-inch travel bike. The new model, called the SB5.5C, features Carbon construction, 29-inch wheels, trail-specific geometry and a 148mm Boost rear axle design for added stiffness and handling precision. Available in mid-May the SB5.5c looks to continue Yeti's success on the trail and enduro scene.

"The genesis of the SB5.5c was conceived on the race circuit. Our EWS riders, including current World Champion, Richie Rude, wanted a 29er that could handle bigger terrain and still be agile on the descent" said Yeti's president, Chris Conroy. "We were able to achieve that balance through the geometry and unique ride characteristics of our Switch Infinity suspension."

Yeti's patented Switch Infinity suspension design features a translating pivot that changes direction as the rear wheel moves through its travel. This provides excellent anti-squat response for superior pedalling and a bottomless feel that responds well to large hits and high-frequency bumps, allowing any rider to push harder and ride faster whether going up or down. The SB5.5c is designed around Boost wheel and drivetrain specifications, with a wider bottom bracket stance, all of which give the SB5.5c greater stiffness and durability.

The SB5.5c takes advantage of the best of Yeti's bike geometry traditions with its long top tube (601mm [medium]), slack head angle (66.5 degrees), low bottom bracket height (346mm), and pitch-perfect length chainstays (437mm). The SB5.5c will still climb with great efficiency, while maximising returns on high-speed, technical descents, making it a strong option for Enduro racers.

The high modulus Carbon Fibre main frame and swing-arm chassis is designed for durability across many seasons of racing and riding on a host of different terrain. The rear dropouts can host all the current thru-axle designs and comes standard with an integrated derailleur hanger. Custom moulded downtube guards, internal cable routing, a tapered inset headtube and wear-resistant collet axles on the pivots round out the SB5.5c's design. The overall result is a bike that is stiff, responsive and capable of handling nearly every trail condition a rider can throw its way.
