The past week has seen Scott and Dave visiting Redhill in Gloucestershire for Round 3 of the British 4X Series. Carry on reading to get the low down on what went on and how they did:

Well we are just back from a great weekend racing in Round 3 of the 2014 Schwalbe British 4X Series at Redhill in Gloucestershire.

The weekend actually started on Saturday for Scott as he travelled up to British Cycling HQ for a training session on his BMX with current Elite Men’s BMX World Champion Liam Phillips ahead of the BMX World Championships which take place in a little over 2 weeks time. After a pretty intense 3 hours at Manchester’s indoor BMX facility, it was straight back to the 4X bike in preparation for Sunday’s race.

With rain forecast on Sunday, the team were prepared for most things come race day on Sunday. We were not prepared for a text from team rider Dave Richardson saying he had been ill all night and was going to be unable to race. Hopefully Dave will be feeling better soon ahead of rounds 4 and 5 in 2 week’s time.

Scott got his practice underway and was instantly up to speed. Going into racing he was feeling confident about the day ahead. Just a little stat for you all. Scott has been racing at Redhill since 2006 and in all the races he has ridden here, he has only been beaten down this track twice – once by Dale Holmes at the National Championships and once in the semi final last year when Scott crashed and finished 2nd!

The motos got underway and Scott stamped his authority on the day ahead winning all 3 of his races, to qualify him through to the semi finals as the number 1 seed. In the semi final with gate choice he took gate 1. Made a perfect start and did not look back taking the win. So it was final time. Scott took gate 1, Lewis Lacey in 2, Leon Rosser in 3 and Duncan Ferris in 4. The gate dropped and Scott took the lead. Exiting turn 1, Scott already had a bike length lead when carnage broke out behind him. The 3 other riders all crashed leaving Scott on his own – flying down the track! Scott had no idea the others had crashed and put in a storming lap to take the win.

This keeps Scott’s perfect record for 2014 going as after 3 rounds he has not been beaten.

The team’s next race will be in 2 weeks time at Bridgnorth for rounds 4 and 5 of the Schwalbe British 4X Series.
