Following on from a strong result at the Fort William 4X ProTour earlier this month, Yeti Cycles 4X specialist Scott Beaumont headed to Moelfre in Wales to defend his National Championship jersey full of confidence in his race speed. Check out his report here

Words: Yeti Racing UK

Friday's practice session went perfectly and after winning the title on the sale track in 2015 Scott has fond memories of the location. With a few changes to the track ahead of the 2016 Championships Scott was at home straight away and got up to speed quickly.

The second practice session went well as Scott raised the tempo and started to focus on the speed he would need to bring home the title again. The competition was going to be tough. The top 4 from last year were all there - Nathan Parsons, Alex Metcalfe and Luke Cryer as well as in-form Duncan Ferris and Will Evans who is always fast. It was also great to see Will Longden racing again along with downhillers Phil Atwill and Craig Evans all making racing fast and very close.

The first hurdle would be qualifying. With turn one being close to the start, gate selection would be critical. The gate dropped and Scott was flying as he nailed all of his lines cross the finish line and fastest to qualify in the top spot.

Scott took the win in his opening races and was confident heading into the quarter final. Choosing gate one, he exploded out of the gate and was able to comfortably take the win. Onto the semi-final. The pressure was on all the riders as only two riders would transfer to the final. Making a great start Scott got away and lead from start to finish.

It was now just down to the final as Scott lined up next to Luke Cryer, Duncan Ferris and James Whitby. The gate dropped and Scott took the holeshot riding the best lap of the day he stretch out a lead crossing the finish line to take the win.

"Winning this race means so much to me. That was the fastest lap of my night and I am happy to have put it together in the final. Thank you to all my sponsors for their support, the fans who were cheering and the organisers for putting on a great event. Let's go and spray the champagne!"
