Amongst the latest and greatest brands from the world of cycling that were showcased at the London Bike Show last weekend, a new name in elite men’s road racing was born.

Easton Ritte, a team heavily supported and brought to you by Silverfish UK, broke cover as part of the popular Ritte Cycles stand at the show.

Managed by the experienced Alex King – former Team Manager of BH-Solidor-WamYouth – the Easton Ritte team will feature eight upcoming and proven racers who will take on the very best of the rest in the UK aboard their Ritte Ace bikes.

As well as riding the all-new Ritte Ace, the team will also be heavily supported by Easton with wheels and finishing kit all coming from the much loved and respected US brand. Spiuk will provide clothing, helmets and shoes whilst hugely acclaimed Skratch Labs will keep the riders fuelled as they take on the established teams on the circuit.

Other sponsors include Supacaz bar tape – as also used by Mark Cavendish – and EVOC who will ensure that the team bikes get transported in complete safety using their award winning bike bags and luggage.

Onza tyres complete the Easton Ritte package with their Lavin and Preda road tyres keeping the team upright and in complete control for the coming season.

So who are the lucky riders?

For 2015, the Easton Ritte team will be eight strong and include riders from 19 to 32 years of age – the ideal mix of youth and experience. As with any good team, Easton Ritte will feature riders who are strong all-rounders as well as a few specialists who can take the fight to the opposition as and when needed. So with no further ado, let’s meet the 2015 Easton Ritte team!

The Staff

Alex King: Director Sportif/Team Manager

Alex is vastly experienced in road racing circles and brings leadership, direction and stability to a young team. Watch out for Alex barking instructions and support from the team car at the races or see him in the assembly area giving last minute team talks and encouragement. The team is in very good hands.

Alex Gidley: Assistant Team Manager/Team Mechanic

If it’s pedal powered, Alex can fix it! Nothing phases this team mechanic from roadside quick wheel changes to completely rebuilding bikes to a tough deadline, Alex has it covered.

Tim Dyer-Jones: Team Mechanic

A highly skilled and experienced race mechanic, having spent plenty of time leaning out of both Elite Team and National Squad Team cars across the globe. Like a good mulit-tool, Tim is compact but very useful in any emergency.

Andy Fowler: Soigneur

The Riders

Al Murison: 22, sprinting/rouleur

When a fast finish is order of the day, the team will look to one of the three sprinters in its ranks to win the day. Al is a young sprint specialist who has already caught the attention of many a race fan with his impressive performances over the last couple of years. Give him half a chance and Al can bring it home.

Anthony Moye: 28, climbing/rouleur

When the road heads upwards, the tough get going. Any cyclist will tell you that climbing hurts won’t they? Anthony loves it though. Watch for him shine at any race where elevation is a key component of the race.

Ben Carty: 26, sprinting/rouleur

Another sprinter, Ben has proven himself as a team player and a strong finisher which will make him a core part of the team plans for 2015.

Bevan Humphreys: 32, rouleur

The hugely experienced Bevan brings a level head to the team. A very strong all rounder, Bevan is a rouleur par excellence and his on bike leadership is a huge asset to the team as they head in to the season.

Charlie Tanfield: 19, rouleur

Young, enthusiastic and talented, Charlie is the youngest member of the Easton Ritte team at only 19 years old. Despite his young years though, Charlie has already made waves in the sport and is proving to be a major prospect for the future. Watch for this strong all rounder at a race near you to see exactly what we mean!

George Fowler: 22, climbing/sprints/stage races

Conventional wisdom would have you believe that a rider can only be a sprinter or a climber, not both. George Fowler says ‘Pah’ to such conventional wisdom! An ideal stage racer in many ways, George is both a climbing and sprinting sensation who may cause a few upsets in the peloton this coming year. One to watch out for!

John Spanopoulos: 21, Sprinting/Track

Greece National team rider John completes the trio of specialist sprinters in the team. Also a majorly accomplished track rider, John is using 2015 with Easton Ritte as a final training year in preparation for his life’s goal – the Rio Olympics in 2016. Everyone at Easton Ritte is confident that John has what it takes to achieve this ambition and wear the Greek colours at the Games next summer.

Sam Redding: 24, climbing/crit/track

Completing the line up is Sam Redding. Another track rider, Sam also specialises in crit racingso will be one to watch at city centre crits this coming year. No mean climber though, Sam will offer the team a real threat when the road gets steep.

A full race team calendar will appear on the Easton Ritte website shortly so that you can plan the dates in your diary to go and shout the team on from the roadside.

You’ve met the team, now what about the bike?

As a certain somebody once said, it’s not about the bike. However, as the vast majority of riders will agree, a good bike does indeed make all the difference and, in some cases, can be the difference between winning and losing a closely fought race.

A good race bike needs to be stiff, responsive, comfortable, reliable, strong and light. Enter the all-new Ritte Ace.

The bike made its public UK debut at the London Bike Show and has already caused quite a social media stir from those attending. Fulfilling all the requirements of a great race bike, this new flagship of the Ritte range, is feature rich with a sublime ride thrown in. Some of the key features include:

  • True Monocoque - Unlike most framesets, which are made in three or more separately moulded pieces, the Ace is made as one piece, with no hard joints or seams. This allows for a more rigid structure with fewer stress points and better transfer of road feel through the frame.
  • Grounded Geometry - The Ace uses the same well-tested, much-loved geometry from the Ritte Vlaanderen for confident, precise handling and stable descending. The design is based on a slightly longer wheelbase with further improved front/rear balance.
  • T700/T1000 Carbon Layup - the highest possible grade of carbon that can be used on a road frame.
  • Interchangeable Di2/Mechanical - Now Di2 and mechanical cabling is cleaner-looking and easier to route with specially designed inserts.
  • 25+ Tyre Clearance - The Ace can accept the biggest possible tyres that a standard brake calliper can clear. Every brand's 25s and many 28s can fit making it a more rounded choice for the everyday rider as well as the elite racer.
