With the logo heavy styling and in your face colour scheme, I was prepared to dismiss the Kenny as a fashion choice, not a technical jacket. But to be fair it's got a foot in both camps.

The fabric - a 2.5 ply DWR-treated polyester - isn't in the same league as Paclite, or even the cheaper HyVent or eVent used on other jackets here. It's heavier, and not quite as breathable, but it did a decent job of keeping the rain off. The outer shell was on the point of wetting out after about 40minutes of fairly heavy rain. There was no leak though, but I was pretty hot and reaching for the pit zips after about 10 minutes and a moderate climb. Those zips are well positioned, and, like the front zip, rubber sealed. All of the seams are welded on the inside too.

Styling and features are more in line with gravity/street scene; it's a looser fit and the transparent inside pocket - designed for an mp3 player with a headphone port - might double up for a lift ticket. The fleece-lined collar and thumbs loops are nice touches too, singling the Kenny out as the best winter sports crossover jacket for the half pipes and board park at least. I'd have liked more material out back; if you're tall it could ride over your waist. Overall this is a well-designed jacket for riding and there's a more sedate black option if you find the ocean' colourway a bit strong.
