Last weekend Mondraker & EVOC sponsored XC and Enduro rider Tim Ponting succeeded to a 1st place finish at the first round of the UK Gravity Enduro series at Triscombe. We're very proud of Tim and are extremely excited to see how he does throughout the rest of the series. Here's Tim's take on the event itself.

This weekend saw rd 1 of the UK Gravity Enduro series get under way. It was nice to see a new venue south of the M4 for a change but I did have my doubts if there were any hills capable of holding such a big enduro event. After one practice loop on Friday my fears where soon gone as Triscombe holds some amazing technical and fun trails.

A heavy downpour Friday night made for some interesting practice runs and the mud tyres soon went on for the two qualifying runs in the afternoon. Stage 1 was the peddler of the weekend. It started fast through the woods before getting to a few technical rooty sections which you had to try hard to keep your speed on before it spat you out onto an old stony fire road with a good minute sprint in the middle of the stage. It then dropped you down a series of steep rutted switchbacks to the finish. Tough stage!

Apart from the 2mph slog through the first corner stage 2 was amazing. Fast flowing corners followed by some steeper switchbacks before traversing across the hill towards the final few corners in the last wooded section. The traverse was make or break of this stage. Get it right and you carried your speed through the uphill section. Get it wrong and you were running and counting tens of seconds away! Proper old school dh riding! Apart from the climb!

The weather was kind on Sunday with dry conditions all day making for some nice riding conditions. After a 45 minute climb it was Stage 3 which opened the days racing. A mean uphill start soon got the lungs going before dropping into the woods all the way to the finish. Great flowing stage with not much peddling... Like it!

A short but steep 20min climb got you back to the top of the hill for stage 4.

This was a great stage, starting with a fast pedal with an awkward switchback halfway along. It then dropped you down the hill with some slick rooty off-camber corners before a tricky peddling section to the finish.

Stage 5 and 6 was a repeat of stage 1 and 2 the previous day. It was nice knowing the track a little better and the days dry weather had made for some nice tacky conditions for both stages. The final woods on stage 6 was a good place for spectators and all the crowds were gathering. A tricky rooty corner with an inside/ outside option made for plenty of crashes to the crowds delight! It was a great end to the days racing.'

Well done UKGE team for such a well-run and organised event and congrats to all the podium finishes. Yer done good!
