Yeti Cycles UK rider Scott Beaumont has just returned from second stop on the European 4X series in Leibstadt, Switzerland with a solid 3rd place finish.

Scot qualified in 2nd place behind Tomas Slavik so knew he was on pace for a good result going into the finals.

Here is his report

We have just returned from the 2nd round of the Schwalbe Euro 4X Series in Leibstadt, Switzerland. A fantastic weekend for both myself and Dave. 4X is one of the main sports that the town supports and the track is at the heart of the town. A fantastic track with a Bensink start gate, permanent marquee and LCD tvs in the marquee that show the racing live at every event that they run there! A great venue and one that would produce some fantastic racing over the weekend.

There were 2 main areas on the track that we were focusing on in practice. Firstly the split first turn where there was a hip jump on the inside and a berm on the outside. Then the 10 metre Pro Line doubles. Make a good choice in the first turn and smoothly clear the pro line and you would be on for a good qualifying run.

Qualifying got underway in front of a large crowd at midday. Dave was up first. He had an awesome run and crossed the line with a time that would place him 13th - his best qualifying result in an international competition. My run was also really good, but I did not know how good until I crossed the line. 2nd place for me, a good draw for racing and smiles all round in the Yeti Racing UK camp.

After a 30 minute interval the racing started. Big crowds turned up from the local town and the track was lined ready to see who was going to win. Dave unfortunately went out in the quarter finals. He fought hard and raced amazing all weekend so his 14th position - as a senior rider racing against elites is a result we are all very proud of.

My day went really well. I had the inside gate pick all the way to the finals. It really helped as I won my quarter final and won the semi final to book my place in the finals.

In the final, Tomas Slavik - the fastest qualifier took gate 1, I went for gate 2, Charly Gaillard in 3 and Daniel Prijkel in 4. The gate dropped and I got an amazing drive on the first straight. I was level with Slavik but just could not get across him. Gaillard railed the turn and swooped past me to take over 2nd. Heading down to the 180 corner, I then dived inside of Gaillard and took away his chance of hitting the pro line. I was now up to 2nd but Prijkel had watched all this unfold and hit the pro line to jump past me. Across the finish line it was Slavik from Prijkel, I was in 3rd and Gaillard in 4th.

Another fantastic round of Schwalbe Euro 4X Series racing and heading to the final round, the overall points are really close with Slavik leading from me and Prijkel in 3rd. We are all within just a few points of each other so it's all to play for in Afan on September 16th.
