Boom Boom and Dave Richardson have just returned from the Val Di Sole, Italy and round 4 of the 4X Pro Tour. Read on to hear what they have to say for themselves. (Video at the bottom)

Just back from another eventful weekend. This time it was round 4 of the 2014 4X ProTour which was held in Val Di Sole, Italy. The track is a favourite with all the riders. It is huge! Massive corners, great jumps and permanent floodlights make this a real highlight in the calendar, not least of all for the team riders Scott and Dave. Dave was excited as it was his first time at the venue and after all the hype that surrounds the event he was stoked to finally get to race this iconic venue. For Scott, this track holds some fond memories. In 2012 he placed 3rd and in 2013 he finished 2nd. Could he keep the pattern going?

Practice began on Friday and both riders were instantly looking great on the track. Hitting the pro line doubles early on in the session then linking full runs up to qualifying lines, aft an hour and a half, both riders were ready for qualifying.

Dave went first. In 4X ProTour riders are set off in reverse order according to UCI World rankings. Dave currently in 24th position had his qualifying run in the middle of the session. With a solid run, hitting all his lines, Dave was happy with his lap and it was good enough for 31st position at the end of the session.

Scott, currently 3rd in the UCI World rankings, was 3rd from last to go. The run looked solid. He was really fast and crossing the line he slipped into 5th position, 0.7 behind the fastest time. Scott admitted after the session that a little too much caution in turns 2 and 3 had cost him dearly.

Saturday and it was race day. The weather forecasts were thankfully wrong. The predicted storms did not arrive and the track was in perfect condition. Another practice session proceeded the race. In this session Scott and Dave worked together getting their race lines dialled. Lots of inside lines, foot out, sliding and getting aggressive ahead of the race.

20.30 rolled around. Scott was in heat 4 with Dave in heat 5. Scott with gate pick took gate 1. The traffic logs flickered and Scott exploded out of the gate in the lead. Just before the first drop disaster struck. Scott's chain literally exploded. It was a big crash and Scott was winded at first, but his race was well and truly over. Re injuring the shoulder that he damaged at World Championships 2 weeks ago, it was a terrible night for Boom Boom.

Dave was lined up and saw the whole incident. Quickly checking his chain, he was lined up in the gate and ready. The gate dropped and Dave was out of the gate well. On gate 4, his plan was to cut back in turn 1. Blocked by another rider, his move didn't pay off but heading into turn 2, he was locked in a battle for 2nd place. With a clash of bars, Dave was fighting to make the next round. Hitting the pro line at full gas, he landed a little sideways and had to unclip to stop himself from crashing. His night was also over.

So 25th for Scott and 30th for Dave. It's safe to say the team has had better night of racing. However they will dust themselves off and will both be in action again in 7 days time for round 3 of the 2014 Schwalbe British 4X Series, which will be held at Redhill in Gloucestershire.

Thank you all for your continued support. Thankfully crashes are kept to a minimum for Yeti Racing UK, but when they happen we truly do appreciate all our sponsors support.
