Yeti Cycles makes Cycling Weekly's list of the 50 Greatest Bikes of All-time

No Yeti haven't re-released their infamous 1995 Road Project bike - but John Tomac racing a drop bar equipped Yeti FRO has made the it into the list as Cycling Weekly takes a look back over its 121 history and the iconic bikes which has shaped it. This accolade sees the Colorado based MTB brand line up with the likes of Eddy Merckx's race machines, Chris Boardman's pursuit Lotus, Colnago dream machines as well as Italian metal from the likes of De Rosa and Pinerello cementing its place in history and the brands racing pedigree.

The Yeti FRO (For Race Only) was American racer John Tomac's weapon of choice as the racer competed in both road and off road disciplines. Opting to run his drop bars on his mountain bike Tomac wanted to mirror his road and training bikes set-up which turning a lot of heads of both racers and spectators. Tomac would then move onto the newly developed C-26 frame for an overall lighter weight race bike and compete at the very first World Mountain Bike Championships in Purgatory, Durango Colorado placing 4th in the DH event on his drop bars!

See page 73 of the Collectors Souvenir Special Issue of Cycling Weekly March 22, 2012 to see the full 50 bikes.
