Fox Launches the All-New 36 & 36 SL: The Apex of All-Mountain and Trail Performance

Since its debut in 2005, the FOX 36 has set the benchmark for single-crown forks, delivering best-in-class performance with an unmatched stiffness-to-weight ratio. In its latest evolution, the 36 raises the bar even further for All-Mountain dominance, while the all-new 36 SL brings lightweight performance to aggressive Trail riders. With a redesigned chassis, increased bushing overlap and the innovative new compliant FLOAT Glidecore air springs, both forks push the limits of stiffness, smoothness and responsiveness in their respective categories.

Fox 36: The Apex of All-Mountain

All-mountain riders are pushing their bikes harder than ever, driven by advancements in frame design, components, and tyre technology. With the new 36, we set out to elevate the performance of these boundary-pushing bikes—delivering a fork that not only meets but exceeds the demands of modern riders. The new 36 combines the confidence-inspiring Enduro feel of the 38 with a category-optimised design that’s lightweight, responsive, and playful.

Key Innovations:

  • New 36 Chassis – 20% greater torsional stiffness over the previous model, approaching the steering precision of the FOX 38.
  • Arch Optimisation – Generatively designed, the new 36 arch enhances torsional stiffness while strategic cutouts minimise weight and refine aesthetics.
  • FLOAT Glidecore Ultra-Low-Friction Compliant Air Spring – A completely new design with a floating air spring core that decouples the stanchion from the air shaft to maintain smooth travel even under bending loads from speed or rider weight. This gives riders a supple and planted feeling when they need it most.
  • Increased Bushing Overlap – 30mm of additional bushing overlap significantly reduces friction, providing a smoother feel, especially on rough terrain.
  • GRIP X2 Damper – More traction, more control, more speed. The refined 4-way tuneable GRIP X2 damper provides increased adjustability while maintaining minimal cross-talk between settings.
  • GRIP X Damper – A lightweight, easy-to-tune alternative to GRIP X2, delivering a balance of descending capability and efficient pedalling performance.
  • Inboard Bypass Channels – Relocated from the aft side to the inboard side, these channels enhance small bump sensitivity, reduce pressure buildup, and improve overall suspension response.
  • Low-Profile Bleeders – Redesigned with a grooved structure for easier pressure equalisation.
  • Air Spring Top Cap – Now compatible with a standard Shimano cassette tool for simple volume adjustments.
  • Refined Mudguard Mounting – Mounted to the arch and seal flanges instead of bleeder ports for improved durability and aesthetics.

Big Fork Energy, Without the Weight

Riders seeking uncompromised stiffness, precision handling, and a remarkably smooth ride need look no further. The FOX 36 continues its reign as the apex of All-Mountain riding—stiffer, smoother, and more capable than ever.

For riders who demand a stiff, responsive fork without unnecessary weight, the 36 SL brings big-fork confidence to modern Trail bikes. At just 1755g (29” 140mm GRIP X), the 36 SL offers 20% greater torsional stiffness than the 34 while expanding your trail bike's capabilities.

Key Innovations:

  • Optimised for Trail Riding – Designed for 120-140mm travel, the 36 SL delivers the perfect blend of stiffness, compliance, and lightweight performance.
  • Arch Above the Rest – Generatively optimized crown and arch provide 20% more torsional stiffness over the previous Trail-class fork, the 34.
  • FLOAT Glidecore Compliant Air Spring – The Glidecore air spring decouples the stanchion from the air shaft to maintain smooth travel even under bending loads from speed or rider weight.
  • Extended Bushing Overlap – 20mm additional bushing overlap over the 34 ensures reduced friction and improved suspension feel.
  • GRIP X Damper – Combines excellent descending performance with an easy-access firm mode for pedalling efficiency.
  • Inboard Bypass Channels – Strategically relocated to reduce friction and optimise suspension feel.
  • Low-Profile Bleeders – Redesigned with a grooved structure for easier pressure equalisation.
