Race Face Turbine Pedals

On mountain bikes, flat pedals have obvious advantages over their clipless counterparts. It’s easier to reposition your foot after getting it back on the pedal. You can put a foot down if you need to re-gain balance through a slow technical section. They conveniently allow you to hop off your bike without twisting your foot out of a cleat. Flats have a degree of freedom not offered with clipless pedals.
It’s this freedom that keeps more than half of all MTB riders–even experienced ones–on flats.
What if you could ride with the efficiency and locked-in feeling of clips, but still enjoy the freedom of flats?
That’s why we made the Turbine pedal.
TOO MUCH GRIP... FOR SOME.
Turbine Pedal isn’t for everyone. Some riders want the flexibility to adjust foot position, to pull their feet off regularly, or maybe they’re buying their first mountain bike.
But for riders who want flats that can be pedaled and pushed harder than anything else? They’re going to love it. Turbine gives riders an incredibly locked-in feel by having the most concave platform on the market.
LEADING IN CONCAVITY. ALL WAYS.
Turbine has a 3mm deep concavity.
A concave pedal platform creates a locked-in feel by cradling your foot in a pocket. With the addition of grip offered by pins, heavily concaved pedals hold on better than slightly concave or flat pedal platforms.
Some manufacturers achieve “concavity” by adding tall pins around the circumference of the pedal. Others will incorporate concavity in the fore-aft direction exclusively.
Turbine is designed with concavity in all ways. Our pedal platform is thinnest at its center, and thicker at all edges—front, back, inboard and outboard—for concavity in all directions.

NO ONE-TRICK PEDAL
Turbine is much more than concave. Two other standout features contribute to its superb ride feel.
Asymmetric pedal platform:
designed to interface with the sole of a shoe more effectively by following the anatomical
shape of a foot. Wider at the front than the back, giving maximum support, pin contact
and grip. This platform shape also offers slightly better clearance and a better chance
of deflecting off ground objects.
No bearing bump:
by employing a simpler - yet well-proven - internal architecture (a bushing inboard and
ball bearing outboard), Turbine offers a larger effective platform and lets riders run their feet closer to cranks. A tighter stance means a narrower Q-factor and in turn, better pedaling ergonomics. Turbine’s internals saw extensive lab testing of one million cycles with no signs of wear. Like many other Race Face pedals, Turbines are fully rebuildable.

OUR PREMIUM PEDALS
Turbine is a premium alternative to the Atlas pedal for the rider seeking a locked-in feel on
flats. Atlas and Turbine are designed with slightly different rider priorities in mind.
Atlas is our gravity focused pedal. That means ultimate bearing longevity (with an oversized
inboard bearing) and a super-thin pedal body for maximum ground clearance. Atlas shares
an asymmetric platform with Turbine, but has a moderate 1.2mm concavity, making it a bit easier to micro adjust foot position, and to pull your foot off when tricking, drifting or dabbing.
Turbine prioritizes ultimate grip. It’s for riders who want their feet to stay put once placed,
who pull their feet off less frequently and who spend more of their time on climbs – especially steep and technical climbs. The right pedal for the rider comes down to personal preference, but if you’re all in on grip and bike maneuverability, Turbine is the obvious choice.

THE POWER OF LOCKED-IN FLATS
Turbine is the flat pedal for pedaling, mobbing descents, and tackling the most demanding terrain
where riders are all-in on grip.
It’s for the flats rider who feels that good grip just isn’t good enough. It’s the most locked in feel you can get on traditional flat pedals.
Turbine pedals are backed up by our Lifetime Warranty inclusive of crashes. For a full rundown on the conditions of coverage, head to our Lifetime Warranty information page.
